Vintage Coral Jewelry

Coral jewelry has a timeless appeal, and is more popular than ever today. It's really our specialty and one of our favorite types of jewelry. The demand for coral continues to grow despite new trade and harvesting regulations.  All of our coral jewelry is vintage and has been in the U.S. for many years. Coral is an organic gemstone and unfortunately, coral reefs are endangered. They are threatened by warming ocean waters, harmful bacteria, pollution, and destructive fishing methods. Fine coral jewelry is getting rarer and more expensive all the time. The prices have tripled in the last 2 years. Think of buying coral like an investment, the price of coral jewelry will go up, because the supply is very limited.

The premier coral on the market is still "oxblood" red coral which is from the species Corallium. Most of it is harvested in the deep waters of the Mediterranean, and then polished and cut in Italy or Japan. Pink or Angel skin coral is always popular and commands a high price too. We have some pieces that are nearly impossible to find elsewhere.  Lots of our customers say they didn't even know there were so many different types and colors of corals.  Did you know it occurs naturally in lavender, black, blue, white, and of course every spectrum of red. Many people have never seen real Apple or Tiger coral.  You have not been able to import it into the USA for decades, so the only sources are antique and vintage pieces. This is an exquisite Victorian Era Multi-strand Red Coral Necklace. The coral is all natural Sardinian red coral that was all hand cut. The six strands of 3-4mm beads are strung on red silk. The beads on the first and last inch are all hand knotted, which makes the necklace stronger and prevents bead loss if there ever is a break. It is a sign of excellent quality. There is a 14Kt gold fluted tube clasp and filigree bead caps. The clasp is marked 14K and works perfectly. The necklace is in excellent condition, the coral is A+ with minimal visible pores or flaws. The color is very even and perfectly matched on each strand. This is a beautiful angel skin coral necklace. There are four strands pale pink coral beads strung together. The bears are 4mm, AA quality, all natural and haven't been treated or dyed in any way. The coral beads have a nice shiny luster. It has two fabulous solid 14KT gold cones for clasps. These cones are heavy, hand made pieces that have been etched with a pretty pattern. The necklace can be worn with those on the side as accents. The necklace is 19 inches long~ The necklace is in excellent condition. It weighs 56 grams. This is a lovely angel skin coral necklace. The pale pink coral beads are AA quality, all natural and haven't been treated or dyed in any way. The necklace is a wonderful quality and the coral has a nice, shiny luster. The coral beads are 9.5mm rounds that are hand knotted on a pale pink silk. It has a fancy sterling silver ball safety clasp that is inset with a row CZ's. The necklace is 19 inches long~ The necklace is in mint condition and has never been worn. It weighs 54 grams. This is a fabulous Victorian Era Double-strand Red Coral Necklace and earring set. The coral is all natural Sardinian red coral that was all hand cut and strung on red silk. The necklace has a lovely filigree & rhinestone brass box clasp. The earrings are an older style clip on with each piece sewn together with red silk. This long coral necklace is really beautiful, it has the pink salmon color beads that the Victorians loved. The coral is Italian and is all natural and hand cut, the beads are very nicely polished have no pitting. The beads are hand knotted on silk and are graduated from 5mm to 9mm. This is a Native American red branch coral necklace with handmade sterling silver beads. The coral is all natural and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. The coral is a nice dark red color and it has a handmade sterling silver figure 8 clasp and hook. The silver has a dark patina one it. The necklace is and extra long 24 ½ inches long~ See another close up. The necklace is unmarked.

This vintage necklace is composed of pretty branch coral beads and 5mm round beads. The coral is a light to medium pink color. The branches are graduated and are extra long in the center. This is a very high quality natural Italian coral. (It hasn't been dyed) The longest branches measure over 1 3/4 inches. A rare and gorgeous coral butterfly necklace. This vintage necklace is composed of genuine round apple coral beads. The large butterfly pendant is a mosaic of apple coral. It has an applied plastic piece for the body. It has a brass barrel clasp. I have seen several lion necklaces, but in all my years of collecting, this is the first butterfly. See view A, B. Lovely vintage red Italian coral necklace and matching earrings. The coral is all natural and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. It has graduated long spiky branches, some that are over 1¼ inches long in the center. The coral has a wonderful polish and is a nice red color. It has a gold tone spring ring clasp. The earrings are gold tone screw backs with the same red coral branches on them. Both pieces are unmarked. Circa 1920's. See view A, View B.

This extra long vintage necklace is composed of angel skin branch coral beads. The coral is a soft and light pink color. The branches are graduated and these are extra long and thick branches. This is a very high quality natural coral necklace made by Les Bernard, who specialized in coral and other gemstones. The longest branches measure over 1 1/2 inches. It has a sterling gilt filigree clasp and a hang tag that is signed Les Bernard Inc. See View A, B, C, Clasp. Circa 1970.

Here is a very nice, Native American coral and turquoise necklace. This combination is a favorite and traditional Southwestern Style. It has handmade sterling beads and a lovely sterling silver cross with a turquoise cabochon. It has graduated long spiky branches that are over 1½ inches long in the center. It has a sterling silver hook and eye clasp. See view A, B, C, D. The necklace is unmarked.

This is a dramatic, extra long black branch coral necklace. The black coral is all hand cut and polished, it is all natural. They have not overpolished it, so you can see the beauty and character of the coral. It and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way, so you can see subtle color variations. Under close inspection you will see shades of golden honey brown veins, which only verifies the natural growth stages of the coral. Natural black coral is very light in weight so this piece is a joy to wear. The branches measure from 1 ¼ to 2 inches. These long branches are very rare. There are black glass beads in between the branches and along the neck for comfort. The clasp is a silver barrel. Another wonderful coral lion necklace. This vintage necklace is composed of genuine apple coral, tiger coral beads, bone beads and accented with small gold rounds. The large lion pendant is a mosaic of tiger and apple coral along with black onyx and mother of pearl eyes. It has a gold tone hook and eye clasp. See view A, B, C, D- See the back ~Circa 1970's.

Wow! What a wonderful coral lion necklace. This vintage necklace is composed of genuine tiger coral beads in multiple strands twisted together. The large lion pendant is a mosaic of tiger and black onyx and mother of pearl. It has a gold tone hook clasp. See view A, B, C. ~Circa 1970's.

Lovely vintage angel skin coral necklace that has just been hand knotted on silk. The coral is a true white with a beautiful polish. It is a very high quality. The coral is all natural and hasn't been treated in any way. These beads are 7mm and have a 14kt gold pearl clasp. A rare pair of vintage black coral earrings on 12Kt gold filled clip on earrings. They are vintage black coral in nice wishbone shapes. They are all natural coral, untreated or dyed. They are in excellent condition and match many of our black coral necklaces. Marked 1/20 12K on the backs. See other views A, B, C.

Wonderful rare black coral branch pin with 14Kt gold leaves and berries. The coral is an extra long wishbone piece and has been beautifully polished. Black coral is now endangered and getting extinct, this branch is all natural and is very uniform in color. It has a gold pin back that works well. The lovely pin comes in a gift box, See View A, B, C, D, See the back. It is marked 14K on the back of the leaves. Circa 1960's

This is an exceptional hand-carved Victorian Coral Portrait Brooch of a lovely lady. She was expertly carved from a large single piece of coral in a neoclassical style. It is 9mm high at the highest point. The color is a blend of pink and angel skin coral. The artist did a great job of using the darker pink and the lighter angel skin colors to his advantage. It has a 14KT yellow gold frame and pin back that works perfectly. The frame fits tightly around the coral. It was most likely carved in Italy. See View A, B, C, D, E, F See the back, Another view. It is unmarked but tested to be 14KT gold. Circa 1900.

Fabulous hand knotted black coral necklace. It is made with beautiful AA quality round coral beads that all have been polished to an extra high gloss. These beads are a rare find in this quality, they are completely black with no signs of brown growth rings; they are 9mm rounds hand knotted on silk thread. The coral is all natural and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. The clasp is a solid 14KT gold pearl style safety clasp. The clasp is marked 585. Never been worn and is in mint condition. This is a black branch coral necklace with long branches in the front. There are smaller pieces all around the back and sides. The black coral is all hand cut and is natural, it hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. The coral has been polished to a high sheen and is in terrific shape. The longest pieces are 1¼ inches long and it has a secure barrel clasp. This coral is getting rare and very hard to find. It's a real treasure. See view A, B, C. The necklace is unmarked. The branches are graduated and are extra long in the center. This is all natural coral. (It hasn't been dyed) The longest branches measure over 1 1/4 inches.
