Vintage & Antique Beads

These are charming handmade papier mache fish beads. They are hand painted red white and blue and have a wire bail in the center. Each one slightly different. Made in Mexico. Limited Quantity Available.

These are large hand painted beads that are green enamel with pink flowers and blue dragon flies. There have striking metallic gold accents on them. Large holes - Vintage

These natural looking beads resemble dyed bone, but they are handcrafted out of a very light weight resin. They are sometimes called scented paste beads. Their sizes vary from bead to bead, but are approximately 20 x 10 mm. Designs vary as well (shown). Use them alone or with other beads. The scent has faded. Vintage Mauritania.

These are great vintage cinnabar beads that were deeply carved by hand in a floral pattern. They were made long ago with a process that involved slowly adding many layers of cinnabar lacquer over a wood base. The cinnabar mineral was found to be toxic, so true cinnabar beads can no longer be made. We just love the look of these beads mixed with our cloisonne beads.

These are the real thing - smooth, old stock Cinnabar beads!!  Quality, vintage cinnabar beads are getting very hard to find. We just love the look and unique red color of cinnabar. These beads are wonderful mixed with porcelain and cloisonne beads. Sold in packages of 6.

These are extra large vintage cinnabar beads. They can be used as a focal bead or a pendant. They were deeply carved by hand in a traditional Chinese pattern. We just love the look of these mixed beads with our cloisonne beads.

These old buttons were found at an estate sale.  They are black plastic with a self shank and they have a large rhinestone in the center. In unused condition

These vintage beads are from the 1940's, and the old boxes were marked simulated turquoise and coral. We are not certain of their composition; but think they were formed from crushed turquoise and coral pieces with a compound or epoxy added to harden the mixture. They have excellent wear ability since they are waterproof and very durable. The ridge circling them is highly polished and very pretty.

We got these puffy resin hearts from an old bead store in New York. We love their bright colors and shiny finish.  Each pack comes with a red, navy and violet heart. Drilled across at the widest part of the bead.

This is a set of five antique Kashmiri beads decorated with small dark red glass beads. The large bead in the center is 20mm and has 4 eyes that each have turquoise glass beads in them. These beads show their age, there are a few small beads missing on them, but it just adds appeal to their wonderful history and look. See another view. Made in Kashmir
