Antique Silver Yemen Hirz Amulet Prayer Pendant

This is an antique handcrafted sterling silver prayer box from Yemen. The large cylinder shaped prayer box pendant or hirz amulet is heavily granulated. This ethnic silver prayer pendant specimen is in excellent condition and  measures 4 inches wide by 1.5 inches long. This piece is heavy and has three rings or bail on top. In Yemen for centuries most of the tribally worn silver jewelry was made by Jewish metalsmiths living in the country. The prayer box is ornamental and has a dark untouched patina from years of wear, it does not open. It is unmarked, but tests to have a very high silver content. This piece is an exceptional example from the estate of a Jewelry/Bead collector from Santa Fe.
