This is a beautiful Byzantine sterling silver cross pendant made in Mexico. The vintage cross is has a shiny mirror finish. This style of cross is also called an iron cross and is classified as a Cross Patée.. The Cross Patée definition describes a crucifix with 4 parts growing thicker as they move away from the center of the cross. The cross pattée is sometimes associated with another Crusader order, the Knights Templar. It is a wonderful unisex pendant with a bail that is made to accommodate a wide necklace, chain, cord, wire or ribbon. Mexico is known to have very skilled silver craftsmen and this is a handsome vintage example.
