This is a lovely vintage floating opal pendant necklace. Possessing a luminous and appealing sheen, this floating opal pendant is a stunning display suspended from a beautifully detailed gold filled cap resembling leaves. Appearing much like a miniature snow globe, the floating opal is comprised of small chips of opal encased in a liquid-filled glass orb. It was invented by Horace H Welch and was very popular in the 1950-60's. The chain and pendant are both hallmarked gold filled.
