Vintage Carved White Jade Pendant

This is a beautiful carved and pierced pendant made from white jade. The jade is translucent and a cloudy off-white color.  The double sided pendant or amulet is very nicely carved with flowers and symbols on both sides. The open work pendant is well designed with excellent workmanship. It has a gold bale, so it can be worn with a chain or a silk cord.

Jade has been regarded as the most precious stone for thousands of years and is treasured for its magical powers. It has worn for centuries by Chinese royalty. Jade is believed to be a spiritual stone and has been called the jewel of heaven. It represents the five principal virtues: charity, modesty, courage, justice and wisdom.
