Striped Gooseberry African Trade Seed Beads Antique (24)

Fabulous Striped Venetian African Trade Beads. They are seed beads with stripes which come via the African trade. This type of bead is sometimes referred to as Gooseberry beads after the gooseberry plant or fruit that was popular in Europe during the 1800's. These beads were made during the 1800's and are in fabulous condition despite their age. The Italians are famous for making the highest quality glass beads. They are 2.5-3mm in diameter and are off a rafia strand. You are getting 24 beads.
